Lawnflower Botany and Nominclature
Trees, Shrubs, Vines, Grasses, Mosses, Lichens, Algae, etc
Learning to identify and grow a wide array of lawnflowers, garden flowers, vegetables, herbs, fruit trees, and nut trees yields an increasing understanding of botany and plant nomenclature. This education, though initially unintended, is inevitable. Plant nurturers become curious about the methods by which plants are assigned their scientific and common names. Growers also become curious about what goes on biologically in the plant world underneath all that greenery and bloom. Another predictable curiosity is to find out what is growing out yonder there in the woods, meadows, forests, and glades.
Below is a short list of books about botany, plant biology, plant naming, and plant identification. After this first list is a second list of books describing a wide variety of wild plants that may be found growing in wild places. Learning about these wild plants will increase our understanding of the natural ecosystems from which we obtain many of our lawnflowers.
