Lawnflower Ethnobotany
Ethnobotany is the study of how plants are used by humans, often focusing on particular traditions of particular cultures.
Many of the native, naturalized, and domesticated plants adapted for use in lawnflower lawns can be used for food, either raw or cooked. Many others have medicinal properties. These species have been used for many centuries by both Native Americans and Immigrant Americans.
In the Lawnflowers Story, the lawnflower children and the lawnflower parents joke about eating their lawnflowers. They joke about using their lawnflowers for medicine. The lawngrass family didn’t joke about eating their lawngrasses or using their lawngrasses for medicine. Lawngrasses just cannot be used in the ways lawnflowers can be used.
Below is a list of books describing the many uses of wild plants. Any of the lower growing species listed in these books can be tested to see if they will adapt to life in a high mowed lawn.
